Our Gardens

Our Gardens

We own an acre of land and are fortunate enough to live in Zone 8 where just about anything will grow!!!  Each Spring we have created a new garden and love watching the birds and wildlife enjoy them too.

Our first Summer here I created a wild flower garden. Super easy to grow. Something I did not have to do anything with.  My sister had given me several large wild flower seed packets that I just threw out to cover and it turned out wonderful.

Lots of Cosmos & Poppies!

The bees LOVE it.

Foxglove grow wild everywhere here.

We knew we wanted to have a big vegie garden for Grandma Pat to tinker around in. During her retirement she has really gotten into gardening and we all reap the benefits of her new hobby.  So we had seven large stock tanks delivered, drilled holes in the bottom so they would drain properly.  I think we had about 8 yards of black soil delivered to fill our new containers.

The previous owners had some really beautiful trees and flowers in place already but clearly not enough for my taste!

This little guy and many of his friends sing to us at night.

We made this area under this maple a fairy garden for Grandma Pat.  It is Dawson's favorite place to lay around.

Have you ever seen a white spider?  I never had.  This beauty was hiding out in my Calla Lilly.

Last Spring we tried our hand at Straw bale Gardening.  However Grandma Pat got eaten alive! She is one of those people who biting or stinging bugs and insects are just attracted to, so she has to be careful while she is out there.

This is my newest garden for Spring 2023! I am calling it my Mothers Garden. It is currently part of the front yard.  But I plan on building a fence to create this private retreat to smell, gaze and enjoy hundreds of new flowers.

I had 10 yards of soil delivered for this garden. I have already planted dozens of plants and about 100 spring bulbs.  I am awaiting the arrival of all new bulbs and plants to add this May.  Our main living room overlooks this new garden.

Started flower seeds in a small closet with a grow light.

Once the seedlings are ready, I may be planting for days.  But so worth the results.

Can't forget the most important item in many gardens, the fungi!

Terrible Ice Storm took out my bird friends favorite tree!
